DOCUMENTARY TRAILER & FUNDRAISING

The days of the Romance's famed Virgin Island "bread and butter" tours
and her memorable world voyages are gone
- save the salty conversations among those who sailed with her.

Please contribute now to the Brigantine Romance documentary production fund!
Thank You!

I. HISTORY: A WORK IN PROGRESS

One evening in the Fall of 2007, a close friend introduced us to Marinero, John Dodge at a dinner party. After listening to John's stories about his time aboard the Brigantine Romance, we realized that his recollections were a part of a much bigger story. Then we met with Michael Dodge, Peter Wholihan, Jane & Russ Meyer and Captain Kimberly and with their help the initial production of this documentary began. It is our pleasure to introduce the trailer here.

Captain Kimberly has graciously agreed to be interviewed by our film crew and lends both a mighty and humble voice to the project. Mrs. Kimberly can still be heard through her photographs, writings and beautiful film archive. This archival treasure reveals their story and legacy of their "perfect little ship".

It has been our privilege to embark on this film journey. We have captured hours of on-camera interviews with Skipper in Michigan and New Smyrna and we look forward to meeting many more Marineros and passengers to complete this documentary.

II. FUNDING: PARTNER WITH US

Thanks to the generosity of Jane & Russ Meyer, Captain Kimberly's sister, the financial ball has begun to roll. We have established a Paypal account for any and all who would like to contribute funds towards the project. Please email us at BrigantineRomance@gmail.com for more information.

Upon completion of the documentary, we plan to premiere the program on a Michigan-based PBS affiliate. This broadcast will cover the greater Detroit area and parts of Ohio and Canada. After the PBS-Michigan premiere, the next phase will include partnering with other regional and national PBS stations and making DVD's available on this website. In addition, our hope is to premiere the film at a future tall ships event, TBA.

III. FINAL NOTE:

We appreciate your consideration for financial support and our heartfelt thanks to those who have generously supported this project thus far.

See you in the credits!
