Dr. Charles W. Jarvis Humor Training |
|
In July, 1980, at the National Speaker's Association in New Orleans, Charlie presented a talk which was titled, "Charlie Jarvis Strikes Again". It contained several of his signature stories and he also addressed the importance of developing your own material. In his notes on this talk he talks about the evaluation of speakers that day, developing a sense of humor and the importance of personal materials. When Dr. Jarvis spoke at the N.S.A. convention in Chicago in 1982, he shared years of knowledge and experience with his audience, a very special group of well-known speakers of that time. His workshop comes with his notes from the presentation: Charlie's own observations on different portions of the workshop, clarification on situations and the reasoning behind his methods and approach. Later, he was interviewed by a very special friend, Dr. Charley Willey. This interview covered a wide range of topics and is a great insight into the art and business of humorous speaking. Dr. Willey recently told Charlie, "This interview is an absolute must for aspiring speakers. We should tell the Toastmasters and NSA'ers, "You owe yourself this interview for it will tell you in detail how to get started, fees, brochures, program planning and a great deal about humor, compilations, the sections of talk, etc. " These 3 items, together as an educational package, are a valuable resource in the library of anyone interested in using humor in public speaking. They are available, either as a CD package you'll receive in the mail or by quick, less expensive downloads. If you are interested in an in-depth workshop on humor, Dr. Jarvis presented a 6 hour workshop at Camelback Inn in 1976. He goes into types of humor, humor psychology, professionalism on the circuit, the hard work of humor and much, much more. All of the above are available individually on CD in the first section below, or you can also download them and save if you prefer, through the "SHOP NOW" button in the Download section at the bottom.
